 A limited number of federal tax forms are available at the library.  Patrons are encouraged to use our public computers to file free Kansas Individual Income Tax returns at www.kansas.gov/webfile.  Tammy Vopat, Lyon County Clerk will be coming to the library in Hartford to assist Lyon County taxpayers 60 and older, and/or low- and middle-income taxpayers with completion of Kansas Homestead Claims and/or Food Sales Tax Refund Claims.  Appointments with Tammy can be made for Monday, February 6, 2012, between 9:00am and 1:00pm at the library.  Schedule the appointment by calling 392-5518.
STORY HOUR – TUESDAY, 9:30-10:30am
Stories with guest readers, crafts with Chelsis, games and music with Catherine.
Story Hour may be cancelled due to inclement weather conditions; if USD 252 classes are cancelled, story hour is automatically cancelled.  Children through age five are invited to attend; children must attend with an adult.  Contact the director for further information.   Themes are subject to change.

BOOK DISCUSSION:  Wednesday, February 1, 4:00pm.  Read the book Drinking the Rain by Alix Kate Shullman and join in the discussion.  Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library.
LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES will meet Monday, January 9, at 9:00am.  Contact Director Catherine Schmidt to be placed on the agenda.  All meetings are held at the library and are open to the public.

Wednesday, Dec. 14, 6:30pm – “Christmas Fun Night” with a report of their European trip by Doris Laws and Kelly Schwinghamer[Kansas & Greater KC Ambassadors of Music -- 2011 European Tour], crafts with Chelsis Andrews, and refreshments by European Bakeshop.

“PAJAMA PARTY” AT THE LIBRARY on Wednesday, December 28, 6:00-7:30pm  for children and youth, preschool-grade 8.  Come and join friends and the library board of trustees for stories, games, music, crafts, and food.  Contact the library or a board member for additional information.

A BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER is planned for Saturday, November 19, 6:30-10:30am at the Hartford Community Center.  All members of the community are encouraged to attend and enjoy sausage gravy and biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and drinks and support our library.

BOOK DISCUSSION:  Monday, October 24, 2011, at 4:00pm.  A Breed Apart:  a novel of Wild Bill Hickok written by Max McCoy, a local author from Emporia.  Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library.  Come and join others who have read the book for a lively discussion.
